EUREKA

This gem has stood stoutly on E Hargett since around 1891, initially as a neighborhood drug store and pharmacy, then later as a mattress factory (and by some accounts an alleged bootleg whiskey operation), and as a church and meeting space. 

In 2022, it was listed for sale and marketed not as a historic or commercial building, but as “a parcel” of “unimproved land” inviting a teardown & continued erasing of our neighborhood’s diverse past.

Steel Projects has purchased this heritage building and is currently in development with plans to preserve & continue this building’s entrepreneurial spirit & bring it back to life for another century+.
